Profiting From Failure

Step 1: Botch assassination

Step 2: Twitter jokes and sex tapes

Step 3: Profit!

[tweetmeme] This Al Jazeera report shows how the botched assassination of Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai earlier has led to a huge demand for Mossad merchandise in Israel.  By most accounts, the assassination was poorly done.  Sure, Israeli agents killed their target, but were caught in the act by cameras, relations between Israel and Australia are severely harmed and England and Scotland are upset with Israel.  Surely, the plan was for a cleaner assassination.

Yet in Israel, the mistakes made by the Mossad has made the spy service more popular than ever.

My favorite part?  The first man interviewed – the clothing salesman – is labeled as an “Israel T-Shirt.”
