Yesterday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas blamed Iran for preventing a reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas under the auspices of Egypt. Saying that Iran doesn’t want a unified Palestine and that the Cairo document was an effort to “pull our people out from Iranian tutelage,” Abbas claimed that Hamas officials had originally agreed to the Cairo deal, but pulled out at the last moment because of Iranian wishes.
