Iranian Aid and Hezbollah Missiles

[tweetmeme] Qifa Nabki is passing along a rumor (originating from “a western expert brainwashed by bad operas dedicated to Imad Mughniyeh and bought by iranian petro-lucre…”) about the security detail surrounding the Iranian aid ships that will try to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza later this week.  Though the Revolutionary Guards have backed off their earlier claim to provide a military escort, Iranian politicians will be aboard the ships (the Iranian Red Crescent Society has said that there were over 100,000 civilian volunteers for the aid mission).  Qifa Nabki is reporting that the ships, however, might be sailing under the protection of Hezbollah missiles:

According to my source (who got his information from “a bearded taciturn birdie”) these Iranian ships are under the protection of the muqawama. “Any trouble, and whoosh whooosh boom…”

You should know that this isn’t the first time that Iran has sent aid ships, and on previous occasions the ships have been turned around by the Israeli Navy without any incident. I don’t imagine that Hizbullah would actually take any serious action in the event of a repeat of the Freedom Flotilla disaster, but don’t say you weren’t warned…

I’m with Qifa; it is highly unlikely that Hezbollah would take any military action if (when?) the Israeli navy turns away the Iranian ships.  If there is another war between Israel and Hezbollah, both sides will do everything possible to blame the other for initiating the fight and to take the defensive.  It will be nearly impossible to claim self-defense if Hezbollah fires missiles to allow an already provocative Iranian convey into Gaza.  File this one under ‘On the other side of impossible.’
