The Egyptian Military’s Broken Promises

Has the Egyptian army taken over the revolution?

Since the Egyptian military helped the people bring down Hosni Mubarak and created the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) to act as an interim government, there has been nearly no revolutionary changes, leading many to downgrade Jan25 from a revolution to a military coup. Despite the demands of the Egyptian people, SCAF has done little to alter Mubarak’s governing structure. Protests against SCAF have been dispersed, the security services remain largely intact and the interim government is looking awfully far from interim. Fortunately Al Ahram Online has provided a useful chart displaying what promises made by SCAF were met, which were broken and which were left unfulfilled.  For those counting, that is 10 broken promises, 6 unfulfilled promises and only 4 fulfilled promises (and one unknown.)
